Dormant Spell (2025)
Performance / installation
Moss and mycelium of Pleurotus ostreatus
Galerie Filles du Calvaire. Paris, France
As part of Être collectif — De la convivialité par nature
Dormant Spell is inspired by passive rewilding and winter flora, bringing together plants and fungi to form a self-sustaining ecosystem. During the vernissage, I activated the work through a three-hour performance, integrating my body into the installation as if overtaken by natural elements after a prolonged sleep. The action explored nature’s capacity to reclaim territory once human intervention ceases, as well as parasitic growth processes such as haustoria.
Following the performance, the installation continued to evolve around the absent imprint of my body, shaped by time and the gradual return of nature. Moss became the site of a discreet ecosystem, giving birth to fungi and small invertebrates and revealing the resilience, vitality, and adaptive force of living systems.
